TAICHUNG, JEN-AI HOSPITAL - DALI

¡@¡@Jen-Ai Hospital - Dali in Taichung County was extremely honored to have a poster presentation accepted at the 35th International Hospital Federation World Hospital Congress (IHFWHC 2007) that was held in COEX Conventions and Exhibition Center, in Seoul, South Korea, from November 6 ~ 8, 2007. The presentation abstract (Baby Video ¡V Embedding Videos of Newborn Baby through YouTube) was not only appropriate to the theme of IHFWHC 2007, but also innovative within the Healthcare field. Because of this, Mark. K. Chan, the Program Director of the International Patient Center, represented the hospital to attend the Congress. International Hospital Federation organizes this event every 2 years. Apart from events organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is the biggest event for hospital administrators worldwide.

¡@¡@The theme of the 35th IHFWHC was "Vision and Strategy for Ubiquitous Healthcare: Seamless Healthcare Across all Healthcare Settings and Contexts". There were 9 topics in total that stemmed from this theme: 1. Hospital Information Systems; 2. Ubiquitous Technologies for Healthcare; 3. Patient Safety; 4. Global Trends and Lessons on Hospital Accreditation Systems; 5. Comparative Hospital Policies; 6. Organizational Issues in Healthcare Organizations; 7. E-Business in Healthcare; 8. Human Resources Management/Leadership; & 9. Globalization of Healthcare. A total of 24 papers were accepted for free paper sessions and 115 papers for poster sessions (abstracts that were accepted came from 16 countries - U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Finland, Nigeria, Turkey, Iran, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan & South Korea); and the abstract prepared by Jen-Ai Hospital International Patient Center was among those chosen in this fierce competition.

¡@¡@An estimated 3,000 hospital officials and experts from 80 different countries were expected to take part in this year's Congress. The Korean Hospital Association (KHA), in conjunction with the International Hospital Federation (IHF), organized the three-day conference and invited 61 speakers from 16 countries (U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China & Taiwan) to express their opinions on its theme. Apart from the conference, the KHA also arranged visits to two of Korea's most prestigious hospitals (The first JCI-accredited hospital in Korea, Severance Hospital & Seoul National University Bundang Hospital), Korean traditional folk dances and drum performances, social dinners, and top designated traveling tours in Korea.

¡@¡@International Hospital Federation organizes the World Hospital Congress every 2 years and organizes the Regional Conference in the alternating years. After participating in the 2006 International Hospital Federation Asian Pacific Regional Conference (IHFAPRC 2006), which was held in Taipei, this Congress is the second time that Jen-Ai Hospital - Dali has represented Taiwan to share its expertise with the world. In 2005, the World Hospital Congress was held in Nice, France; this year, it was held in Seoul, Korea; and the next one is scheduled to take place in November 2009 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where Jen-Ai Hospital once again hopes to have another opportunity to present its projects at the 36th World Hospital Congress.
