TAICHUNG, JEN-AI HOSPITAL - DALI

ˇ@ˇ@Jen-Ai Hospital - Dali in Taichung City was fortunate to have 1 mini oral presentation and 4 poster presentations accepted at the 20th International Conference on Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services that was held at the Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan, from Wednesday, April 11 ~ Friday, April 13, 2012. This year's International HPH conference is special for 3 reasons, according to the Organizing Committee: 1. this conference is the first HPH conference that is held outside of Europe, which signifies the globalization of the HPH network; 2. this landmark event marks the 20th anniversary of International HPH conferences; and 3. the 20th International HPH Conference is
record-breaking in regards to the number of registrants, as more than 1,300 participants from 45 countries took part in this conference.

ˇ@ˇ@This year's conference was organized by Taiwan Department of Health's Bureau of Health Promotion, in close cooperation with WHO Collaborating Centre for Evidence-Based Health Promotion in Hospitals and Health Care & WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Promotion in Hospitals and Health Care. Looking back on what HPH originally set out to do in the last 20 years, its theme was chosen to be "Health promoting healthcare in a changing world: Innovation in service provision, healthcare management and health system design". The 9-day conference featured various activities for the participants, such as the Main Conference (5 Plenary sessions; 49 Oral sessions; 19 Mini Oral sessions; 32 Poster sessions); Pre-Conference on HPH and Environment ˇV Global Green and Health Hospitals Agenda; Pre-Conference on Tobacco Free Health Care Services ˇV Hosting the ENSH Gold Forum 2012; Summer School; Newcomersˇ¦ Workshop; Coordinatorsˇ¦ Workshop; Hospital Site Visits to 14 Health Promoting Hospitals in Taiwan; Conference Opening Ceremony; Welcome Reception; Gala Dinner; Conference Closing Ceremony; Farewell Party; etc.

ˇ@ˇ@An all-time record of 721 presentations were accepted at the 20th International HPH Conference, with the vast majority of the presentations coming from Taiwan, which now has 76 Health Promoting Hospitals in its national network, ranking as being one of the biggest national networks within WHOˇ¦s International HPH Network. This year's exceptional result is the 3rd consecutive year that Taiwan has had the most number of oral, mini oral and poster presentations for the past 3 International HPH Conferences (Manchester, U.K. in 2010; Turku, Finland in 2011; and Taipei, Taiwan in 2012) and according to Taiwan Society of Health Promoting Hospitals, Taiwan, once again, hopes to be # 1 at next yearˇ¦s International HPH Conference, which is scheduled to take place on May 22~24, 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
