¡@¡@Jen-Ai Hospital in Dali City, Taichung County, was extremely honored to have 2 oral presentations and 6 poster presentations accepted at the 2006 International Hospital Federation Asian Pacific Regional Conference (IHFAPRC 2006), which took place at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) in Taipei, Taiwan, from Monday, April 2 ~ Wednesday, April 5, 2006. This was the second time that the International Hospital Federation Asian Pacific Regional Conference was held in Taiwan (the first time was in 1986). An estimated 800 delegates from 20 different countries participated in this conference.

¡@¡@The three-day conference was organized by Taiwan Hospital Association, in conjunction with International Hospital Federation. The theme of the conference was: Health for All ¡V Challenges of Hospitals in 21st century, with majority of the invited speakers coming from the Asia Pacific Region (Iran, India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan), although there were speakers from other countries (U.S.A., France, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand) to present their topics, as well.

Apart from the scientific program, the conference also organized a series of social activities, like the Opening Ceremony (presided by President of Taiwan, Chen Shui-bian) & Welcome Reception (attended by Vice President of Taiwan, Annette Lu) at the TICC, Conference Banquet at the Taiwan City Government Hall (hosted by Taipei City Mayor, Ma Ying-jeou), Farewell Party at the 33rd Fl. of Taipei World Trade Center, and Conference Tours to several hospitals in Taipei, as well as Sightseeing Tours to National Palace Museum and Taipei 101 building, which is the tallest building in the world.

Dr. Mingi Chan Liao, the Superintendent, was particularly pleased to see that many oral and poster presentations from Taiwan was presented in English to share the experiences of Taiwan's hospitals with the international panel of experts. It is the hope of the Superintendent that this conference is just the first of many more international hospital management conferences that will be held in Taiwan, in the near future, so that international exchange of knowledge can be further developed with hospitals in the Asia Pacific region and hospitals from around the world.
¡@¡@Taiwan's hospitals will have another opportunity to present their experiences at the next international hospital management conference, which will be held in Taipei, this coming August; and also at the next International Hospital Federation Asian Pacific Regional Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Seoul, Korea, in November 2007.
