TAICHUNG, COMPASS MAGAZINE
¡@¡@Jen-Ai Hospital International Patient Center (IPC) is celebrating its 15th Anniversary, after first opening its doors back in 2003 to accommodate the growing medical needs of Taichung¡¦s various foreign communities.
¡@¡@While most hospitals in Taiwan now provide English services to foreigners for an additional fee, IPC offers free interpretation services to patients in English, Japanese, Indonesian and Vietnamese to ensure their safety. With its launch of bilingual services in September, 2003, Jen-Ai Hospital ¡V Dali had the distinction of creating Taiwan¡¦s first international patient center.Since then, it has also offered services to patients from the highest number of different nationalities in the nation.
¡@¡@IPC has also been honored with numerous local and international awards, and has had several presentations accepted at various conferences and congresses around the world. Many of the innovative projects that IPC was in charge of have garnered extensive media coverage over the years as well.
¡@¡@¡§It¡¦s hard to believe that we have been taking care of foreigners in Taichung for 15 years now,¡¨ says Mark Chan, who launched the Jen-Ai Hospital IPC. ¡§I still remember when our hospital didn¡¦t have bilingual signs and our hospital staff members had never even talked to a foreigner before. But, with the experience that we have gained over the years and new state-of-the-art building that is being built across from the current hospital, the future of international medicine actually looks promising.¡¨
¡@¡@Jen-Ai Hospital International Patient Center (IPC) has welcomed nearly 115,000 international patient visits from more than 28,500 international patients of 110 different nationalities. The highest number of patient visits per month--exceeding 1,250¡Xhas been an indicator of consistent growth over the years.
¡@¡@Popular specialties among international patients include: Health Examination Center; Surgery; OB/GYN; Ear, Nose
&
Throat (ENT); Gastroenterology, Urology; Cardiology; Rehabilitation / Physical Therapy; Pediatrics; Orthopedics; Dermatology; Endocrinology; Neurology; Breast Surgery; Spine Surgery and many more.
Besides the IPC, Jen-Ai Hospital projects that have been firsts of their kind in Taiwan include: Baby Web Nursery, Inpatient E-card Service, Baby MMS
&
SMS (using smartphones), Baby Video (using YouTube), Baby e-File, Japanese Medical Service, Indonesian Medical Service, and Vietnamese Medical Service.
